Democratic Socialism

DSA

What do Democratic Socialists Believe?

1.  They believe that both the economy and society should run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profit for a few.  Democracy is at the very root of Democratic Socialism as both an ends and means!

2.  They work to increase the Power of the People and to weaken the strangle-hold of the masses by the corporations.  They advocate decreasing the influence of money in politics and actively work to empower ordinary people in the workplace and economy.

3.  They advocate a restructuring of gender and cultural relationships so they will be more equitable.

4.  They believe that it is through democracy that society can be restructured so that people have a real voice in their choices and relationships.

5.  Democratic Socialism is a vision of a freerer, democratic, and humane society.

6.  They reject the current global economic order that is sustained by private profit, alienated labor, race and gender discrimination, destruction of the environment, and brutality and violence used to maintain the status quo.
